THE UPSETTERS are proud to be a LIVING WAGE EMPLOYER.

What is a Living Wage Employer?

A Living Wage Employer ensures that all employees aged 18 and over, including certain classes of contracted staff, are paid at least the living wage. The employer also agrees to increase the amount which it pays to employees by the same amount as any increase in the living wage within six months of the date of the official announcement.

What is the Living Wage?

The real Living Wage is an hourly rate of pay set independently and updated annually (not the UK government’s National Living Wage). It is calculated according to the basic cost of living in the UK, and employers choose to pay the Living Wage on a voluntary basis. According to the Living Wage Foundation, since 2011 the campaign has impacted over 460,000 employees and delivered over £3bn extra to some of the lowest paid workers in the UK.

The UK Living Wage for outside of London is £12 per hour. The London Living Wage is £13.15 per hour. These figures are calculated annually by the Resolution Foundation and overseen by the Living Wage Commission, based on the best available evidence on living standards in the UK and in London.

What does that mean?

It means that if you work with THE UPSETTERS, we are committed to paying you the real London Living Wage as set by the Living Wage Foundation, no matter where in the UK you are based. Even if we work on a project outside of London, we will still pay the London Living Wage rate. This is above the minimum required by law and is a voluntary rate that is independently calculated. Each year it is reviewed and adjusted according to the changes in cost of living. We will keep paying the Living Wage as it increases.
